Overview
The Suicide Prevention Awareness Resource Council (SPARC) is a coalition of community members, mental health professionals, and partner agencies united around a critical mission: giving schools in the Charlottesville area the tools they need to address suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention with confidence and care. The challenge was not starting from scratch, but rather taking what SPARC had already built and shaping it into something educators, counselors, and administrators could actually pick up and use.
That meant organizing and refining existing materials into a comprehensive, thoughtfully designed toolkit built with its audience in mind. Careful attention was given to typography, calming imagery, and well structured sections to make sensitive information feel approachable and easy to navigate. The digital version went a step further, with hyperlinked resources built in for quick access during the moments that matter most. Distributed in both print and digital formats, the toolkit serves Charlottesville area schools while remaining flexible enough to be adapted by communities beyond the region.
